Tupton Cluster Benchball Event

Thursday 7th October saw the highly anticipated KS2 Benchball event for the Tutpon Cluster. Being the first KS2 event of the school year, and since COVID struck, I think it is safe to say that this event went down a treat with nothing but smiles from everyone in attendance.

It was so lovely to see the children of Ashover Primary School, Deer Park Primary School, Holmgate Primary School, Hunloke Park Primary School, Parkhouse Primary School, North Wingfield Primary School and Sharley Park Community Primary School, all coming together to compete in this Benchball event, all doing what they do best, having fun! I would like to say a personal well done to all the Year 3’s and Year 4’s for working so hard and showing true sportsmanship, in a game which some had never even played before. I know a lot of hard work has been done in PE sessions around the Tupton area in preparation for the event.  You all did an amazing job!

All the competitions saw each team attempt to score the most points in each game and earn themselves a place in the final:

Competition 1 saw Ashover A and Parkhouse A in a battle to win their first-place prize. With an intense final game, Ashover A came out on top scoring 3 points with Parkhouse A not far behind with 1 point.

Competition 2 saw an intense final between Holmgate B and Ashover B, both teams determined not to give the other a chance to score. Neither team backed down until the final whistle was blown with the game ending in a 2 – 1 win to Ashover B.

Competition 3 saw arguably the most nail-biting game of the event. Deer Park C and Hunloke C fought to be the champions of their competition. Being the highest scoring final of the event, it was a very entertaining affair and after 8 long minutes, Hunloke C took the gold scoring an impressive 5 points to Deer Park C’s 4.

Once again, thank you to the staff for enabling the children to attend such an amazing cluster event and another well done to each and every child that took part. We hope to see many of you at the next Qualitas event.
