The Qualitas BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Football Education Programme)

At Qualitas Sport Academy the Football Education Programme offers both males and females aged 16-19 years a fantastic platform to kickstart their careers withing the sporting industry.

Our qualified team work hard to give each student opportunities and pathways that kickstart their interests and routes into sporting employment; with the drive that they are ahead of students of a similar age on the completion of their course.

We do this by focusing on 3 different aspects of learning & development.

  1. Education – VLUK delivers education through a range of modules using the Sports Brain platform. Content is delivered in person while also remaining fully accessible online, giving students the flexibility to study at their own pace and revisit learning when preparing for assignments. The course is assessed through 100% coursework, with no exams.
  2. Football Development – Students train two to three times per week with UEFA-qualified coaches who have both professional and semi-professional playing experience. Sessions are designed around the FA Four Corner Model to ensure well-rounded football development. Competitive fixtures take place on Wednesdays against other college football providers and teams. As football development is built into the education timetable, students also have the opportunity to explore pathways with a variety of football and sporting clubs.
  3. Workplace Enrichment – We provide students with opportunities to gain valuable workplace experience within the sporting industry, based on their individual interests and career goals. We work closely with students to support them on a pathway from voluntary placements to paid employment, helping them build experience and access future job opportunities.

We complete our programme at two state of the art facilities, where we are able to immerse the students in enrichment and opportunities.

Our courses take place at Staveley Miners Welfare Football Club (SMWFC) and Graves Health and Leisure Centre

At SMWFC we have everything on one site, state of the art 4G pitch, purpose built classrooms, changing rooms and a gym all on site, in the fantastic compound of one of the best non-league football ground in the area.

At Graves Health and Leisure Centre we use a mixture of the classrooms and spaces in the venue to deliver the education side of the provision. Located at the bottom of the Graves facility is Leisure United where our football development is completed. At the Graves site their is opportunity to get involved in more than just football as enrichment due to the nature and various sports/activities that take place at the venue.

Course Requirement and Enrolment

This study programme is ideal for people interested in going on to study sport-based courses at university, or wish to pursue a career pathway within teaching, fitness, youth work, sport science coaching or sports development.

Throughout the year, we host a range of open evenings, open training days, and information events for prospective students and their families. These events provide the perfect opportunity to learn more about the course, meet our staff, and gain a clear understanding of the programme we offer.

Visitors will also have the chance to experience the high-quality training environment available to our students, giving them a real insight into life on the course and the opportunities available. Find out more information about upcoming open days and evenings through our social media platforms, or get in contact with us directly and we will be happy to share the next available date.

Applications for the course usually open around January each academic year. It is important to complete your application through the VLUK links, which we can send to you once you have registered your interest.

To join the course, students are required to achieve five GCSEs at grade 4 or above. Having English and Maths included within these five GCSEs is prefered but not essential.

If a student does not achieve a pass in English or Maths, there is still the opportunity to resit these qualifications while studying with us. Teaching support for resits will take place during the week, with exams completed at the end of the academic year.
